The process of cement manufacture and its quality is primarily controlled by appropriate selection and evaluation of raw materials. The detailed geological investigations and proper designing of raw mix help to ensure successful operation of the plant.

We have strict quality standards for our raw materials :

Calcareous : For VSK(Vertical Shaft Kiln) plant the calcareous component should conform to the following specifications:

• CaO more than 49%
• SiO₂
• MgO less than 2%

Proper prospecting, exploration and reserve estimation of limestone deposits are essential prerequisites for making investment decisions for setting up our new cement plants.

Argillaceous : Argillaceous component, usually clay, should be plastic in nature to facilitate good green strength of nodules. To satisfy the moduli requirements of raw meal, locally available corrective materials like bauxite, laterite, iron ore etc. are added, if necessary.

Fuel : Low volatile fuel (less than 8-10% volatile matter) is required for cement manufacturing by VSK ( Vertical Shaft Kiln ) technology. All vertical shaft kiln cement plants using 'black meal' process warrant low volatile fuel in order to ensure least intranodule pressure. Accordingly coke breeze, a waste product from steel industry or low volatile coals are being used extensively as fuel in our VSK( Vertical Shaft Kiln ) cement plants.
